The 21st of March was established by the UN as World Forestry Day to highlight the importance of forests and the need to protect them.
On this occasion and in the context of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Cyta, realizing that its activities directly or indirectly affect the environment, organized on Monday, March 21, 2016, a tree planting in the Municipality of Engomi, on Free Kormakitis Street.
During the event, 50 trees of various species were planted, while the tree planting was supported by the Office of the Environment Commissioner. It is worth noting that the tree planting was done using a specialised method of soil preparation, which not only increases the chances of tree survival, but also saves more than 70% of water.
The tree planting was honoured with the presence of, among others, the Commissioner for the Environment Mrs. Ioanna Panayiotou, the Mayor of Egomi Mr. Zacharias Kyriakou, Municipal Councillors of the Municipality of Egomi, as well as the Member of the Council of Cyta Mr. Francis Fragou.
The event was also attended by children of the 3rd grade of the 1st Primary School of Makedonitissa, who recited poems and participated in the tree planting, passing the message that together we can all contribute to the upgrading and protection of our environment.
