A tree planting took place at the initiative of the Office of the Commissioner for the Environment and the Municipality of Geri, as part of the campaign “A tree for every child born”.
The aim is to develop an emotional connection of the residents with the trees and consequently to educate their children who become sponsors of the tree.
Tree planting is one of the main measures of addressing climate change, improving the environment as well as our quality of life.
In 2015, the initiative “A tree for every child born” was launched, using innovative water-saving irrigation systems, thus addressing the serious problem of drought in Cyprus in 2015.
